Destination Guide
Written by our destination team — practical, current, and honest. No filler, no fluff.
Fujairah is the UAE's antidote to the city — an Indian Ocean coastline framed by the Hajar Mountains, with coral reefs, quiet coves and cinematic beach resorts within a two-hour drive of Dubai.
October to April brings warm sea temperatures with cooler air, ideal for beach days, diving and mountain drives. May to September remains excellent underwater but land temperatures climb sharply.
Winter: 18–28°C, low humidity, calm seas. Summer: 30–42°C with humid coastal air. Sea temperature ranges from 24°C in winter to 32°C in late summer — outstanding for snorkelling and diving year-round.
The UAE dirham (AED) is the sole currency. Cards are widely accepted at resorts and restaurants; carry small cash for local markets, taxis and mosque donations.
Arabic is the official language; English is spoken throughout the tourism industry. Hindi, Urdu and Tagalog are common in the service sector.
Fujairah is roughly a 90-minute drive from Dubai via Sharjah or a 2-hour drive via Al Ain. A private chauffeur is the most comfortable way to explore Al Aqah, Dibba, Kalba and the wadis. Taxis are available inside Fujairah city but rare on remote coastal roads.
Beach resorts are relaxed — swimwear at pools and beaches. Cover shoulders and knees when visiting mosques, forts and the Friday Market. Modesty is appreciated in villages and inland towns.
Fujairah is very safe. Ordinary precautions apply for hiking and wadi driving — carry water, avoid wadis during rain, and use certified operators for diving and boat trips.
One of the UAE's best family destinations: shallow, sheltered beaches, family resorts with kids' clubs, waterparks at Al Aqah, and gentle snorkelling from shore at Snoopy Island.
Signature stays include Le Méridien Al Aqah, Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort, Miramar Al Aqah and InterContinental Fujairah Resort — all beachfront, with spas, dive centres and private stretches of sand.
Fujairah is not a shopping emirate — the pleasure is at the Friday Market (Souq Al Juma) in Masafi for carpets, pottery and fresh fruit, and small souks in Fujairah city for gold and perfumes.
Expect fresh Gulf of Oman seafood — hammour, kingfish, prawns — grilled at Dibba fish markets or served at resort restaurants. Emirati, Lebanese and international cuisine are all well represented.
Fujairah is a quiet destination by design. Evenings are spent at beachfront bars, shisha lounges and resort terraces — this is not a club scene.
Snoopy Island, Al Bidyah Mosque, Fujairah Fort, Wadi Wurayah National Park, Al Aqah Beach, Dibba Rock, Fujairah Museum, Ain Al Madhab, Kalba Corniche and the Hajar Mountain wadis.
Two to four nights is ideal — long enough for beach relaxation, one full diving or snorkelling day, one mountain or heritage day, and an evening cruise or spa session.
