Set on twelve hectares of jasmine-scented gardens in the shadow of the Great Pyramid of Giza, Marriott Mena House Cairo is one of Egypt's most storied addresses. Alfredo channels the golden age of Italian trattoria dining, while Sultan Pavilion is where breakfast becomes a small ceremony — freshly baked feteer, honeyed labneh, saffron rice pudding and Turkish coffee poured from long-handled cezves. Afternoon tea in the palace lobby, with a string ensemble and pyramid views from the loggia, remains a tradition worth honouring.

The spa is built around a hammam suite and offers Egyptian-inspired rituals using Sinai clay, Nile lotus and Siwa dates. Two outdoor pools thread through the gardens; the far pool sits beneath the paw of the Sphinx at dusk. A tennis court, resident Egyptologist, and library complete the offering.

Guests reach downtown Cairo, the Grand Egyptian Museum and Saqqara within a short drive, yet the property is so self-contained that many travellers rarely leave.
