Erth Abu Dhabi is a design-led boutique hotel in Al Bateen, moments from the Presidential Palace precinct and Qasr Al Watan. Formerly the Armed Forces Officers' Club, the property has been beautifully re-imagined by Godwin Austen Johnson: a sweeping curvilinear roof inspired by falcon wings, cool travertine and coral-stone facades, and one of the largest indoor atriums in the Gulf drawing natural light through mashrabiya screens. Interiors are refined and calm — muted taupe, black basalt, brushed brass and hand-woven wool — with a strong sense of Emirati craft throughout. 274 rooms and suites average 45 square metres, with private balconies overlooking the gardens, marina or Presidential Palace, and marble bathrooms with deep tubs and rain showers. Dining is a highlight: Talea for coastal Italian, Erth for regional Emirati cuisine, Layali for traditional Arabic mezze, and The Pearl for afternoon tea. The full-service spa offers hammam suites and couples' rooms, and there is a 25-metre outdoor pool, dedicated family pool, tennis court and 24-hour fitness centre. Families are welcomed with connecting suites and a kids' club; the property is equally well suited to business travellers thanks to its extensive banqueting facilities, the largest ballroom in Al Bateen and a bright meetings wing. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is fifteen minutes, Louvre Abu Dhabi twenty, and the airport twenty-five. The city's most quietly confident five-star.
