The story
Suwaidi Pearls is the UAE's only working pearl farm and a family-run business that traces four generations back to the pre-oil pearling economy. You board a traditional wooden dhow at Al Rams jetty for a 15-minute cruise into the sheltered lagoon where the oyster lines hang. Onboard, Abdullah Al Suwaidi — or one of his trained team — explains the seeding process, opens a live oyster in front of you, and walks the group through the difference between natural and cultured pearls. Every guest receives one pearl to keep. The experience is genuine, low-volume and completely different in tone from the polished city tours to the south.
