Flamingo Beach Birdwatching

Between November and March, greater flamingos winter in the Ras Al Khaimah mangroves and salt flats around Al Rams and Al Jazirah Al Hamra. This is a guided walking excursion with a resident naturalist who reads bird behaviour, points out the western reef herons, kingfishers and grey herons that share the wetland, and sets up a Swarovski spotting scope for close views. It is not a boat trip and it is not a tourist attraction; you walk a section of accessible boardwalk and coastline with a professional. Best at the low-tide window when birds cluster to feed. Families welcome; the terrain is level and buggies can be pushed on the boardwalk sections.
