Sunset Camel Trek at Al Wadi

Camels are still working animals in Ras Al Khaimah — this trek is not a fairground ride. You meet the herd at the Al Wadi reserve stables, your handler helps you mount, and you walk out in single file through the desert edge for about 45 minutes with the mountains to the east and the sunset to the west. The pace is slow; children over 6 can ride pillion with a parent. Groups are kept to 8 riders maximum with one handler per two camels. Refreshments are served at a shaded dune-side pavilion afterwards, and the return drive from the reserve is timed for the pink hour that follows sunset in the desert.
